Maxim’s Group, as the franchisee, introduced Genki Sushi and sen-ryo to Hong Kong in 2006. Genki Sushi is now the city’s largest sushi chain, loved by customers for its top-quality fresh ingredients. The sushi chain ventured into mainland China in 2008 to promote the Japanese sushi dining experience. Meanwhile, known for serving fresh seasonal seafood shipped directly from Japan’s seafood wholesale market, sen-ryo was the first conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Hong Kong with a sake bar. In 2010, the Group developed a new Japanese donburi concept called DONDONYA, offering donburi that uses premium Japanese rice as well as other classic Japanese delicacies. The Group also established Uo-Show to offer a diverse menu of value-for-money Japanese light snacks in 2013, made with top-quality ingredients. These self-developed brands were also joined by other Japanese brands, including the renowned ramen brand IPPUDO, Tokyo-based seafood izakaya Uoharu and YAKINIKU LIKE, a popular solo yakiniku dining restaurant known for its “Tasty! Quick! Value!” gourmet experience.
